On large foundations where the distance is too great for cleats, and earth forming isn't an option, ensure that your forms are carefully staked at least every three feet. More importantly, however, provide enough pencil rod in both directions and connect them through the panels with secure attachment clamps. Not only will it ensure that the foundation above ground will remain square, it will prevent your forms from blowing out from too much pressure, a common and costly occurrence when you misjudge the hydrostatic strain.
