Dangerous voltage reportedly contributed to tower death

    Under certain conditions, dangerous voltages can be present because capacitors can retain charges even after the power has been turned off. You should disconnect the primary power, wait a couple of minutes and check the circuits with a voltmeter before making any repairs. During 2003 a tower technician was reportedly removing a power cable and cut into the energized line causing him to fall from the tower because he was not tied off 100%.

    LED obstruction products are all low-voltage (120 VAC). Use of this technology would dramatically increase tower safty.
