L-810 incandescent systems are required by the FAA to use a 116-watt traffic signal type bulb in order to meet the 32 candela illumination requirement. These lamps are rated for 8000 hours of continual use and will perform well providing that there are no electrical surges or severe weather conditions. Check with your lighting professional for suggestions as to their experience with different lamps. It's not the bulb that eats into your operating budget, it's the service climbs. The FAA requires that incandescent bulbs are to be replaced at intervals not to exceed 75% of the rated life.

Have you thought of using LED based L810's and L864's. They have a rated lamp life of at least 10 years
