    Depending upon the type of project and existing site conditions, some grubbing specifications can be costly to achieve. One military base communications project called for rock to be removed 12" below the subgrade for preparation of a tower-site access road. It was obvious that another project's specification writer had too much time on his hands or was being paid by the word when he detailed grubbing as the preparation of land for anthropogenic (human) purposes.
