Geotextile Fabric

Many telecommunications construction specifications will include a requirement to provide a geotextile fabric under the length of a road or tower compound area, but are shy in providing any specifications as to the type of fabric required, leaving the option up to the contractor or project manager.

By placing a geotextile fabric between the aggregate and the subgrade, the design depth of the aggregate is preserved. Non- woven medium weight fabrics are most commonly used for underlayments and erosion control. MadeGeotextile Fabric 2 from polypropylene fiber, needle-punched and heat set, these fabrics range in weight from 3 to 16 ounces per square yard.

Geotextile fabrics have high tensile strengths and prevent the Geotextile Fabric 3intermixing of the aggregate with the compacted sub grade below. Other applications of the fabric include erosion control and  stabilization of rip rap.

They are resistant to all naturally occurring soil acids and alkalis and unaffected by bacteria or fungi. They will not absorb anyCalculator appreciable amount of moisture which makes them ideal in soil or drainage applications.

Geotextile fabric is available from multiple manufacturers and distributors covering approximately 500 sq. yds. per roll. The default pricing used in "My Estimator"  is based upon mediumweight fabric.
