During his time as a student at the University of Evansville, Austin Uhr has distinguished himself in the engineering with interests in the areas of construction and structures. This past summer Uhr, served as a construction intern for a local consulting company and is actively seeking a summer 2019 internship in the field of structural design.

“Austin is a dedicated student who submits projects and classwork of the highest degree,” stated Dr. James Allen, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Evansville. “In his structural design projects, he strives for creative designs that serve their intended function, while maintaining a keen eye on constructability issues. He is not afraid of any challenge placed before him and is always willing to work with his classmates. Austin is at the top of his class academically, but especially excels in courses related to construction and UE’s structural analysis and design sequences. We think his work ethic and diligence best embody the spirit of Ernie Jones as the recipient of this memorial scholarship,” added Dr. Allen.

Ernie was a structural engineer who worked in the broadcast tower industry for 30 years. During his career, Mr. Jones served as a Professional Engineer and President of Consolidated Engineering, Inc. and a Vice-President of Structural Engineering at Electronics Research, Inc.
