FCC Chairman Ajit Pai today visited the headquarters of Green Mountain Communications during a trip through the state of New Hampshire.
Chairman Pai heard from the executives and employees from Green Mountain Communications about the opportunities and the concerns facing the company – and the industry in general – for the 5G deployment in providing services for the building, maintaining and deploying wireless systems in New England.
While visiting Green Mountain Communications’ corporate office and warehouse, Chairman Ajit Pai became aware of the integral role that contractors play in successfully rolling out 5G, and the extensive carrier-required inventory and equipment that contractors must warehouse at their expense.
Green Mountain Communications, established in 1993, is New Hampshire’s largest wireless contractor.
The meeting included the benefits that Green Mountain Communications has as a member of the National Association of Tower Erectors’ Star Initiative and the credentialing process that several of their employees have gone through with the National Wireless Safety Alliance.
“Our team today was thrilled to have the opportunity to share with Chairman Pai their perspective as a contractor in the wireless future,” stated Victor Drouin, President and owner of Green Mountain Communications.
“I am thankful the Chairman is taking the time to hear from multiple stakeholders that support the wireless future across our country,” said Drouin.
Chairman Pai and his FCC Commissioners have taken a serious interest in learning about the wireless construction industry’s assets, capabilities and concerns – and through their stakeholder meetings recognize that if America is going to be a leader in rolling out 5G, it starts at the technology and siting levels, but must end successfully by employment of the skill sets and dedication of wireless contractors’ professionals.
Last month, Chairman Pai took off his tie to be tied off to a tower to appreciate the disciplines and exhausting work of a tower technician.
