Don McMasters has been promoted to lead CITCA’s curriculum and development

Steve Wilder, President and CEO of CITCA, LLC, a leading safety training and consultancy firm, has announced the promotion of Don McMasters to Director of Curriculum and Development. He replaces Steve Trnka, who recently accepted a position as a safety officer with another company.

McMasters joined CITCA in 2014 as a field instructor and has been involved with providing training to CITCA clients on a national level. He recently retired as a Fire Chief in Danville, IL. In announcing the change, Wilder noted that “Don has consistently been a reliable and respected member of our team. Steve Trnka and I go back over thirty years together, and I know this was a difficult decision for him. I know Steve will do well, and I am excited to have Don stepping up to fill his shoes.”

Jocko Vermillion, Vice-President of Operations for CITCA, mirrored Wilder’s thoughts. “We are all sad to see Steve stepping down, but we are equally excited to have Don stepping up. He is an incredible instructor and a true people person. We get nothing but excellent reviews on his classes, and his past experience as fire chief gives him the leadership experience needed for his new role.”

McMasters assumed his new role on June 5, 2023. Trnka will remain on the CITCA staff as a field instructor.
