The National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA) announced today that Trey Pitts, EH&S Program Manager at T-Mobile, and Mike Young, President & CEO at ANCO, have been appointed to the organization’s Board of Governors.

In their new roles as a Board member, Pitts and Young will join representatives from a broad cross-section of the industry tasked with developing policy and overseeing the activities of the various committees that will serve under their authority.

NWSA, headquartered in Fairfax, Virginia, is a national non-profit assessment and certification organization established to provide thorough, independent assessments of knowledge and skills and provide verifiable, ANSI-accredited trade certifications to enhance safety, reduce workplace risk, improve quality, encourage training, and recognize the skilled professionals who work on towers and other non-standard communication structures.

“NWSA is excited to welcome Trey and Mike to our cadre of subject matter experts and industry leaders who serve on the organization’s Board of Governors,” said Executive Director Duane MacEntee. “Trey and Mike’s Background in the industry representing wireless national carrier and contractor, respectively, will enable them to hit the ground running and lend valuable insight to NWSA as we continue to scale the number of credentialed workers in the industry,” added MacEntee.

NWSA offers industry-wide trade certification programs: Telecommunications Tower Technician 1 (TTT-1), Telecommunications Tower Technician 2 (TTT-2), Telecommunications Tower Foreman, and Antenna & Line Specialty Certification Program.

Industry workers, companies, and stakeholders are encouraged to visit the NWSA website at www.nws-a.org to learn more about the organization and how to begin obtaining certification.

Mike Young

Mike Young started his career in the Wireless industry by obtaining his Associate’s degree in Wireless Communications in 2003. His original intention was to become a site technician for a carrier, but the wireless slowdown offered very few opportunities at that time. Still wanting to stay in the industry, he started as a Tower Technician at Sioux Falls Tower & Communications, now VIKOR. He gained exceptional hands-on experience in this position as he “climbed the corporate ladder” alongside VIKOR’s growth, transitioning to a Crew Chief, Project Manager, Regional Director, and President.

Wanting to forge his path, he became the co-founder and CEO of ANCO Underground in 2020. Year after year, ANCO Underground grew and became a general contractor in the broadband industry. It installs hundreds of miles of fiber annually throughout the upper Midwest and Mountain West. Recently, ANCO Underground has continued diversifying its service offerings and expanded into Power and Wet Utilities.
