Two hundred speakers and their audiences will be required to wear masks, according to newly-announced COVID-19 protocols for Connect (X) 2021 in Orlando. The National Association of Broadcasters’ show scheduled the following week in Las Vegas was cancelled due to the Delta variant.
The Wireless Infrastructure Association (WIA) has announced revised safety protocols for COVID-19 for the upcoming Connect (X) conference in Orlando, FL, being held October 4-7, at the Hyatt Regency.
The association said the changes were a result of the State of Florida changing their practices and policies in recent days.
All in-person Connect (X) attendees will now be required to adhere to the following screening protocols to pick up their badge on-site:
- All attendees will be temperature screened.
- All attendees need to present proof of a negative lab-administered COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours prior to their arrival at the show, but fully-vaccinated attendees can opt-out of this requirement by showing proof of vaccination.
- All attendees will complete a verbal COVID-19 exposure screening check or require further on-site screening.
- Any attendee who does not show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours, or full vaccination, can take a rapid PCR test on-site administered by a medical professional (at no cost to the attendee). Testing supplies are not infinite, so they are suggesting that you do your best to be tested prior to your arrival at the show.

For those unable to join in person, there will be programming through their online platform which will include live-streaming sessions, interactive 1:1 meetings and networking opportunities.

Connect (X) 2021 was originally scheduled to be held in August but to ensure an optimal in-person experience , it was moved to October.
The 2021 National Association of Broadcasters Show was cancelled last week.
The trade show, which had been scheduled to be held Oct. 9-13 in Las Vegas, was canceled with the trade group saying in a statement that “unfortunately, the pandemic and surge of the Delta variant has presented unexpected and insurmountable challenges for our global community.”
