Sheriff’s tower takes down a video shooting New York drone

The New York Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the owner of a drone that crashed into a communication tower.

According to a media release, Sr. Radio Tech Dave Bartkowiak discovered a drone that had apparently impacted one of the county’s communication towers located at the Tom Erlandson Overview Park on Oak Hill Rd. in Frewsburg.

The drone was discovered on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, however the data card indicated the flight took place on Aug. 17, 2015 at approximately 8:00 p.m.

“If the owner or public recognize the operator, please to contact the sheriff’s office so they can return drone to the rightful owner,” the Sheriff’s department release said.

The drone came fairly close to hitting a microwave dish’s shroud.
