Ms. Durcsak discussed the history of wireless telecommunications and emphasized the important role that state wireless associations play in the advancement of the industry. PCIA is the principal trade association representing the companies that make up the wireless telecommunications and broadcast infrastructure industry.

“For the first meeting of this association, we were very pleased with the turnout,” said Ron C. Toler, President of AROK Wireless Association. Board members and officers were introduced, which include: Ron C. Toler, SiteExcell, President and Board member; Curtis Branch, SiteMaster, Vice President and Board member; Mike Smith, Smith Two Way Radio, Treasurer and Board member; Lee Ann Fager, Cingular Wireless, Board member and Chair of the Regulatory Committee. Other Committee members present included Grady Wahlquist and Dennis McClenic, Membership Committee co-chairs, and Virginia Whitworth, Social Committee co-chair.

The AROK Wireless Association is the seventh State Wireless Association formed, with plans for five more state associations to launch in the next three months.  These associations are comprised of members from all sectors of the wireless industry—carriers, site providers, tower companies, equipment vendors, construction companies, legal and other consultants. “Basically, we want to promote positive wireless industry awareness. We’ll do that through education, and in legislative efforts in both Arkansas and Oklahoma,” said Toler.
