The National Wireless Safety Alliance (NWSA) unveiled the organization’s inaugural Board of Governors roster today in an industry-wide announcement. The NWSA is a national non-profit assessment and certification organization that is under development to provide thorough, independent assessments of knowledge and skills and provide verifiable worker certification in order to enhance safety, reduce workplace risk, improve quality, encourage training, and recognize the skilled professionals who work on towers and other non-standard structures.
The NWSA Board of Governors roster consists of accomplished representatives from a broad cross-section of the industry and will be tasked with developing policy and overseeing the activities of the various Committees that will serve under the NWSA Board of Governors.
“The inaugural Board of Governors roster consists of talented individuals representing the diversity of the wireless industry landscape,” said NWSA consultant Chuck Slagle, a former Sprint Environmental Health and Safety Executive. “The selected Governors have the requisite level of experience and expertise necessary to help guide the NWSA’s assessment and certification programs through the critical stages of development and to the marketplace,” added Slagle.
The Board of Governors will be formally seated next week during the inaugural NWSA meetings that will be held in Denver, Colorado on August 12-13, 2015.
“The diverse backgrounds of the individuals represented on the Board of Governors will be an incredible asset to the NWSA and serve the organization very well as it prepares its assessment and certification programs to go through the ANSI/ISO 17024 accreditation process,” stated Joel Oliva, the NCCCO’s Director of Operations and Program Development. Oliva will be collaborating closely with the Board of Governors and will be directly involved in the NWSA’s program development and test administration phase.
The NWSA organization is the result of collaborative efforts between a broad coalition of the industry’s leading subject matter experts, companies and stakeholders representing wireless carriers, tower owners, OEM’s, turnkey management firms, small contractors, tower technicians and industry associations. Industry leaders have pledged to provide timely and relevant updates to the industry as key benchmarks are achieved in the establishment of the NWSA national assessment and certification program.
Wireless industry workers, companies and organizations are encouraged to view the NWSA website today by visiting www.nws-a.org to learn more about the organization.
